1. Cinema Arts Centre
423 Park Ave., Huntington. 631-423-7610. www.cinemaartscentre.org
What can be said about Cinema Arts Centre that hasn’t been already? At the film forefront, with independent and foreign cinema, behind-the-scenes discussions and quirky film symposiums, CAC is a rare gem. While the theater’s proprietor, Vic Skolnick, passed away in 2010, it is still in the gifted, capable and careful hands of Dylan Skolnick and Charlotte Sky, and is as exciting as ever. With so many theaters trading integrity for stadium seating and blockbusters, CAC has remained the vanguard of respected cinema, inviting patrons not only to see films, but experience the world in which they exist. That’s why Press readers have voted it one of the Best of L.I. for the better part of a decade.
