There are many places to see art on Long Island, but where else can you go that boasts such an amazing array of world-class exhibits? The Heckscher Museum has a stunning 2011 in store, including Identity Crisis, which “explores issues relating to the artistic use of other artists’ styles and images,” and Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum, a juried exhibition featuring work by art students grades 9 to 12 attending public and private schools throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
2. Nassau County Museum of Art

This museum is a site for the eyes both inside and outside. Located on a 145-acre former Gold Coast estate, the museum hosts numerous major exhibitions throughout the year, usually of European and American art movements from the 19th century to the present. In addition to their extensive permanent collection, a beautiful sculpture garden is located on the property.
3. Long Island Center of Photography

The Long Island Center of Photography was Long Island’s first symposium on photography and related media, and has been responsible for 16 community outreach photography exhibitions. The center works to promote Long Island photographers, and was behind a retrospective exhibition at the Nassau County Museum of Fine Art for Horst P. Horst, a distinguished Oyster Bay photographer.
