The Long Island Children’s Museum is both fun and educational. Conveniently located next to the Cradle of Aviation, this is a great place to see performances and play, and if your child has a birthday coming up, they also host birthday parties.

3. Cradle of Aviation

Charles Lindbergh Blvd., Garden City. 516-572-4111. www.cradleofaviation.org

Long Island has a rich history in aviation. The first continental flight flew out of Long Island, and the airfields here were used for military training during both World War I and World War II. Visiting the Cradle of Aviation makes people look at Long Island from a different view…shall we say bird’s eye?
