Best Band From Long Island

by Best Of Long Island on January 5, 2010

You don’t have to admit it. We know at some point or another you shut the blinds, lock the door and belt out the best of AC/DC into your hairbrush. And these guys probably did too, until they became some of the most well known bands on Long Island. Hey, everyone’s got to start somewhere.

Long Islanders Voted Push Play the Best Band From Long Island!

Push Play

The new year holds high hopes for this LI-bred foursome, who have managed to sell out NYC’s Irving Plaza and Nokia Theater. Vocalist CJ Baran says, “As a band, we have focused on building a relationship with the fans.” And the fans have spoken. Push Play was voted a Best Up and Coming Band last year, and their popularity has soared as they are a winner once again, celebrating their third Best of L.I. win.

2nd Place – Brand New,

This group hails from Levittown, New York. They formed in 2000 and they are currently with Interscope Records. They have a collection of four albums, their latest entitled “Daisy.”

3rd Place – Testing for Echo,

They were named one of the top ten bands on Long Island in 2005. In 2008, they were finalists in the MTV2 Rock Band contest in New York. They are still a very successful band who have continued to travel and perform in various clubs and colleges.

The best band on Long Island is Wonderous Stories. They do not play original music but, if you ask the people who saw them perform The Beatles’s Abbey Road at Jones Beach, this Summer, it is a no contest. They play a mix of 70′s music. They have the whole package — Singers, Keyboards, Two Top Notch Guitar Players, and a Drummer who slams out the beat. Every time I bring a friend to see them — they never fail to blow them away. They deserve a shout out.

Then they belong in the COVER band category, Harvlis.

Brand New should have been number 1!

Kim Jurewicz January 15, 2010 at 11:46 am

Push Play is one of the absolute BEST bands out there. They care about their fans, and get as interactive with them as they can when they preform a show. Their music is amazing, and their 4 of the sweetest guys out there.

Jammin jess January 15, 2010 at 11:50 am

Push play was my first ever concert. I had so much fun and they are soooo sweet! Im happy for the boys they deserve this.

They have worked so so so hard to get where they are now, and i am SOOOOO proud of them; Their music is great and everyone I know who listens is instantly a fan. Not only are they talented, but theyre so nice and really genuinely care about their fans- the ones who have only heard Midnight Romeo to those who have been there since there were 50 people in the crowd, to everywhere in between. Way to go boys!!!

Shannon January 15, 2010 at 2:08 pm

We all love them so much and support them in everything they do.

Christina January 16, 2010 at 9:13 pm

False. Brand New is the best band from Long Island. They at least try to make music that no one has heard before, unlike Push Play who just ride on the coattails of other pop-”punk” bands before them.

Chelsea January 22, 2010 at 9:16 pm

What are you even talking about Christina? Have you ever even heard their music? Probably not so dont say something so obnoxious without having the goods to back it up. Obviously Push Play won because they got the majority of votes, unlike brand new. dont get me wrong, brand new is great but don’t put down the winners when they won fair and square. And Push Play isn’t pop-punk. They are pop-rock. So…it seems to me like you don’t even know much about music genre since you didn’t even classify their type of music correctly. And since you evidently do not know much about music, it would be appropriate for you to just not even make a comment at all.

There is a new band on the seen who will win this the next time. The band name is BROKEN PROMISES. Check them out when you can. I saw them at the Crazy Donkey about 4 weeks ago. WOW they have some great songs.
I tried to find out where they are playing next and found out that they are in the studio recording an EP and will be playing Nov 20th at the vibe lounge.
I will be there

T-Bone December 3, 2010 at 10:54 pm

this list should have never even been posted. taking back sunday isn’t even on it. worthless. oh, and you also forgot Brand New. waste of space.

Bengief January 7, 2011 at 4:57 pm

How about inside or blood red or capital or silent majority or milhouse or the movielife or devola or vision of disorder or the backup plan or thieves and assassin’s

dave February 6, 2011 at 9:56 am

glassjaw? taking back sunday ? honorary title? the movielife? from autumn to ashes? skycamefalling? crime in stereo? This list was extremely lacking. Come on, Push Play is the best band…over Brand New ?!?!?!?!?! That’s just insulting.

cram March 1, 2011 at 3:41 pm

oh yea push play, their last record was number 6 on the billboard chart. oh wait, that was brand new…

Hunter March 22, 2011 at 6:33 pm

Brand New should have won hands down, no contest. What were you people thinking?

Daniel Cordeiro April 2, 2011 at 2:49 pm

I voted for POPARAZZI because they are very talented and I wanted to see a new band get the honor. However I have to agree with Hunter, Brand New’s music is phenomenal.

Congratulations to Push Play it seems that they have a large fan base.
