Best Comedian From Long Island

by Best Of Long Island on January 5, 2010

It’s true what they say: laughter is the best medicine. On Long Island, there is no shortage of comedians ready to tickle your funny bone.

Long Islanders Voted Joe Devito the Best Comedian From Long Island!

When Devito isn’t working on Oscar-nominated films (Super Size Me) or writing for MTV, he’s appearing alongside Greg Gutfield on FOX News. A lifetime New Yorker and current LI resident, Devito has been a mainstay among the local comic scene. His comedic stylings have been featured on the The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and earned him one of the top spots on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. This is Devito’s third consecutive Best of L.I. win; here’s hoping he brings on the funny in the year to come.

2nd Place - Chris Monty, www.chrismontylive.com

Chris Monty started out his career in piano bars located in Levittown at age 19. He soon attended a comedy course in order to break his way in to the comedy business. It wasn’t long before he started opening for people like Jimmy “JJ’ Walker from Good Times and the Welcome Back Kotter series. He now performs all over the country and writes jokes for the Joan Rivers Show.

3rd Place - Carie Karavas, www.cariekaravas.com

Carie Karavas is one of the toughest, wise cracking stand-up female comics to ever come out of Long Island. Her style is very versatile and she can adapt to just about any crowd.
