Best Cover Band on Long Island

by Best Of Long Island on January 12, 2010

Billy Joel could have stopped singing decades ago, his music would never die. A cover band favorite and Long Island native, Joel is easily the most covered artist to come off the Island. But not the only one. Here are the best local cover bands ready to play your favorites.

Long Islanders Voted Peat Moss & The Fertilizers the Best Cover Band on Long Island!

Peat Moss & The Fertilizers
www.peatmoss1.com

Peat and Co. are one of LI’s Best Cover Bands for the second year running, and in the land of ubiquitous Billy Joel tribute groups, that’s saying something. With an arsenal ranging from Lady Gaga to Nine Inch Nails and a bunch in between, PM&TF built a cult following in some of LI’s top clubs. If you haven’t seen them yet, do yourself a favor and head to Best of L.I.-winner The Nutty Irishman, where they play regularly.

2nd Place - Trade Winds, www.tradewindstheband.com

This cover band has made it on the Best Of list two years in a row and have no plans of slowing down. The 11-piece band specializes in dance and party venues, playing their own style of rock and pop, infused with heavy horns and rhythm sections. You can catch them gettin’ the party started with songs by everyone from Alicia Keys to (of course) Billy Joel.

3rd Place – The Suck It Easy Band, www.thesuckiteasyband.net

With a never ending line-up of musicians, this cover band is one to really embrace Happy Hour. The Suck It Easy Band has gone from being just a regular house band to playing packed shows at the Crazy Donkey. The band tries to turn every show they put on into a party with their mix playful mix of 50s, 60s, and 70s rock and soul classics.

The Bash! By far the most fun and innovative cover band I’ve ever seen! Had a blast at their last show!!! I mean, what other band do you know puts their instruments down to spontaneously perform the Thriller dance? They’re hilarious. Just look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJES243LAwo

The Bash is by far the greatest cover band on Long Island, and possibly the world.

I agree, Janice. Tradewinds has such a variety of music to attract audiences of all ages. They have been playing large venues including most recently Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, Nutty Irishman in Bay Shore and Farmingdale, all over Fire Island and even out of state!

Eric and the Secret Weapons

I’ve seen them play at the Grey Horse and the Brick House Brewery, they’re fantastic, they do a great rendition of walking on the moon.
