Best Local Live Theater on Long Island

by Best Of Long Island on January 12, 2010

They say there’s nothing quite like taking in a live theatrical performance to soothe the spirit and rejuvenate the soul. Long Islanders know that even with our close proximity to Manhattan and Broadway, there’s really no need to head into the Big City to witness such a show, since Long Island is home to a colorful local live theater cast of its own—with performances just as spectacular.

Long Islanders Voted John W. Engeman Theater in Northport the Best Local Live Theater on Long Island!

You may know the Engeman Theater as the place to see quality live theater on Long Island. We know it as the place to see quality live theater on Long Island that also serves absinthe and mead. The first time we entered the theater we wanted to move in—a little corner would do us just fine. Because when you walk through the doors, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back centuries to a time when Edgar Allan Poe roamed the streets mumbling to himself and when men battled dragons with their bare hands. It’s inspiring—even before the curtains open. Located in downtown Northport, this intimate, enchanting play house is a little slice of Broadway, and Renaissance charm, on Main Street—no schlepping to Manhattan involved.

John Engeman theatre is a top shelf venue with outstanding talent performing in every show. Westhampton is a beautiful venue and surprised it was not the runner-up.
