While the “too big to fail” banks that brought the U.S. economy to its knees were reluctant to issue loans after getting taxpayer bailouts, this hometown credit union saved many a small businesses as they proved to be one of the few who were still lending when it was needed most. This is the second year in a row that Bethpage Federal Credit Union is a Best Financial Institution winner, but they more than earned it with their practices of late. It is refreshing to read what I have always known of this institution and its recognition is deserved entirely not only for the service they provide but also the individuals who provide it, from the tellers, loan officers, operators, and those above make this by far the best institution on LI, thanks for all you do for me and many of the LI community, ciao.
I guess credit unions count as a “financial institution”, sort of. But as an employee of a community bank on Long Island, the bar for excellence is a bit higher as we have to pay taxes and make a return for our shareholders.
Credit Unions shouldn’t count.
Of course credit union are financial institutions and by far they are much better than commercial banks. Yes, credit unions are not-for-profit institutions but that’s how all financial institutions should be. Banks are too worry about paying dividends to their shareholders and that’s the reason why the economy is the way it is now. Shame on banks. Great work credit union!!! Personally, I am a member of both Bethpage and Sperry and they offer far better accounts, rates, and service than banks.
I have worked in many countries,and have been using banks in several countries.
I have never found any financial institution that is as caring,and customer orientated
as Sperry Federal Credit Union.
The Sperry Federal credit union is,….in my opinion,the best financial institution,not only in Long Island,
but worldwide.
