Why is Island WRECK on here? They are horrible. Who votes for these things? Is it whom ever has the most adverstiments from you guys?
I agree. I have had nothing but terrible service with Island Rec. They were extremely unhelpful, unknowledgable and thieves for the most part. Do a simple web search of them, you’ll notice that the second site addy is CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS! Or better yet, check em out on the BBB’s website.
Brothers 3 however is a good place, a bit pricey. But it’s a mom and pop shop after all. Dunrite is a great place for your inground needs too.
A Pool Guy: Just an FYI, Island Recreational does not advertise with us… Neither does Brothers 3.
it really is a popularity contest based on who ask more friends to vote for them. sometime,s winners are really the best. sometimes not.
I was just shopping for a pool and tend to disagree with everyone here. I think Island Recreational is underestimated. I found there staff to be very helpful and knowledgable. They carry good quality pools made by swim n play. When I visited brothers 3 , all the salesman did was trash talk island recreational, after doing some shopping around I found them to be the least expensive and had the most choices. The salespeople at Ir were young but very knowledgable. But one comment i do agree with is about Brothers 3 being pricey. Almost double the cost of Island Recreationals pools and there salespeople are very pushy !! well atleast the man who helped me was.
This has got to be someone that works for Island Rec. I have never heard one good word about that store.
hahaha this customer guy sounds like he works for island recreational. geesch talk it up more…..
I have nothing good to say about Island Rec. I just cancelled a pool order with them after they gave me the run around. They have a problem with being honorable. As a matter of fact there is a manager in Deer Park who can’t handle his job as he left his dirty work to a younger worker. I was embarassed for him as I watched him hide his head where the sun doesn’t shine. All I know is that they sell a product, and I ordered their product unfortunately they could NOT meet their commitments. I understand that there are delays but to make a customer feel as if they did something wrong by inquiring about their purchase and asking for a honest answer is wrong. As well as having me wait an entire day for one phone call and then afterwards avoid me in the store. One week turned into over a month and I was not going to let it ride to two months. If you can’t deliver the goods you are selling then tell me why are you selling them????? If on the onset they choose the proper way to treat a customer by being honest I may have waited longer, only their dishonesty and evasiveness had me uneasy.
Paragon Pools is the real deal for pool supplies, service and more! They have my vote!!
best pool store on LI is Paragon in Huntington and Kings Park !
Paragon Pools is the best. Customer friendly and extremely knowledgeable! What more can a pool owner want?
Paragon is the only pool store for me. They don’t fill the counter will chemicals that are not needed and the really know their business.
Island Recreational is the best at ripping people off. I used to work for this company and they love to force people to buy chemicals they don’t even need. Customers need to read up more on what chemicals they actually do need and stop listening to these kids selling these chemicals that don’t do anything. IF anyone had the VIP club knows the rip off with getting charged twice for the membership which they do on purpose hoping people don’t catch it and pocket the rest. Also ask yourself what company doesn’t have a number to the store. They also give you a P.O. Box to the corporate office which is a joke since the main office is located right next to the repair shop in Massapequa. Shop anywhere else if you value your money and time.
They are definately best rip off. Don’t go for the membership. Remember that they automatically charge your card $100.00 a year to renew and do not tell you upfront. You have to watch your statement and have the charge reversed.
Paragon pools is the best pool store on LI hands down! our family has been going there for years and they take such good care of us and they dont push chemicals down your throat. they deff should have won and should win from now on.
I dont know what planet any of these idiots come from that say island rec is a good place to buy a pool but Island Rec, has to sell the biggest piece of garbage in the entire industry, I have a pool for 6 seasons, its comming dowm this year due to rust and leaks,,,,, where did I buy such a fine pool? Island Wreck! And I paid maybe $1000 less than that of a Brothers 3 Pool. Now I have to buy another pool, the difference is this one has a lifetime warranty and a company that stands behind its product. As far as my pool, I wont even waste my time to try and excercise my warranty, its a big blame game over there, its everyone elses fault that my pool is damaged, and never island recs, anyone that says they are a good choice to buy a pool from, is a real MOOK!
Just tripped on the site. I am a pool store owner (25+ years)on LI and I won’t self promote myself like some of those people did for a company above. Seeing Island Rec as number 2 on the list was a real shocker but you have to admit that they are the cheapest. Of course the article didn’t say what any company was best at so that leaves it open to discussion. It amazes me every day how i hear, “I’ll never go back to that place again” in reference to IR. However, just as fast as one person won’t go back, there’s someone else waiting in line to get in to the place to leave some money. I’m sure that they’ve made a few people happy and I guess they are the one’s who sent in the votes. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to get my employees to send in more votes next year.
Please provide contact information.
Thanks
went to 3 brothers got a price of 11000 for 16 by 32 semi there otta there minds .got a price for 16 by 32inground for 16500.when my wife went to get our money back guy told my wife that the pool would collapse in 10 years.real nice.he even want the brocure back.company is way overpriced.try long island pool and patio in coram.
Mike is good over a LI Pool. He’s been around a long time. As far a B3 getting mad and saying stupid stuff, that’s not unusual. I’ve heard it many times before. For some reason their salesman like to bad mouth product and companies. I’ve lost sales to their company and I’ve taken sales away from the company. But, I don’t rely on bad mouthing ot make a sale, I’ll show them the quality of my product, give you a fair price and we are all happy. Buying a pool from an adult with 30+ years experience is an important thing to some buyers. Good Luck and enjoy your pool.
Anyone who contemplates buying an above ground pool needs to know 1) the town regulations, 2)an independent survey for a fair leveling price, 3) independent research of the product – when you go shopping make a list of the pool and liner manufacturers and do a little research 4) alternate dates for installation, due to weather problems 4) principles and practices of the company.
If a salesperson cannot tell you the manufacturers name be wary. Shouldn’t a salesperson be proud and willing to let you know the manufacturers name?
If you buy a car, don’t you research, first? Don’t you want to know the difference between a Ford and a Porsche?
Island Rec ‘s advertising seems too goof to be true. There have been way too mny credit card problems, and complaints aabout installations, quality of the products, and services.
Swimming pools are supposed to be for fun and relaxation, not headaches.
You get what you pay for.
Stay away from Island Recreational. They are liars and just want to take your money. Pay the little extra to get better service – we wish we had. They lied to us about the installation charges. The Installation manager never offered to compensate us. Even an offer of credit toward pool supplies would have been appreciated.
