Long Island has a history of amusement parks, but the majority have gone by the wayside. Adventureland, a five-time Best of L.I. winner, has kept the tradition alive. In business for nearly 50 years, this park has grown with every generation. The same roller coaster that scared us at our sixth-grade graduation party is scaring our kids now. The same trolley we got kicked off of as teenagers is still kicking. And those flying swings? They never, ever will get old.

2nd Place - Splish Splash, 2549 Splish Splash Dr., Calverton. 631-727-3600. www.splishsplashlongisland.com

Fun, fun, fun times filled with water! It’s water paradise. Splish Splash is a good place to go when the weather is hot. Some popular rides include the long lazy river, the Barrier Reef – where riders twist and turn in a dark tunnel, Surf City Wave and the Dragon’s Den. There are also plenty of rides for younger kids as well. Splish Splash is the place to be.

3rd Place – Tiki Action Park, 1878 Middle Country Rd., Centereach. 631-471-1267. www.tikiactionpark.com

Tiki Action Park is a great place to bring your family.  They have an 18 hole mini-golf course with caves and waterfalls, a go-kart track, a game room for all ages, and a small concession stand with hot dogs, pretzels, slush puppies, soda, candy and ice cream.  They also accommodate birthday parties. Tiki Action Park is a fun affordable place for everyone.
