Everyone loves Jones Beach. The crowds make that obvious. Even Donald Trump wants in. Waves, golf, those really cool umbrellas, ice cream—it’s everything a beach should be. What else can we say? Other than we are so lucky to have this right in our own backyard.
2nd Place - Eisenhower Park, Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow. 516-572-0348.
Eisenhower Park is one of the largest parks in New York, larger than Central Park. It is filled with athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, batting cages, 18-hole golf course, and one of the greatest swimming facilities in the country. It is home to a 9/11 memorial to the residents of Nassau County. It has been said that Eisenhower Park is to Nassau County is to what Central Park is to Manhattan.
3rd Place – Wantagh Park, 1 King Rd., Wantagh. 516-571-7460.
The waterfront park, Wantagh Park, is an ideal place for any Long Islander to spend their afternoon. Besides the basic park essentials of picnic areas and trails, this park has six different pools, one with a water slide, and a boating marina for you to dock your “Liquid Asset.”
