To make this list, you have to be, well, awesome. New Hyde Park Memorial High School English teacher John Ferrara, by coming in at the No. 1 position, has proved he is not only awesome, but most awesome. Ferrara is in his 10th year at New Hyde Park Memorial, where he teaches grades 9 through 12. He’s known as “the funny teacher,” and says his philosophy is, if you make the classroom fun and entertaining, relaxed and enjoyable, students will have a better learning experience. We agree. And based on the votes, so do Ferrara’s students and colleagues.

Amy Gallo teaches second grade at Gribbin Elementary School. She is known for inspiring all the kiddies to be the best they can be.

Professor Jack Mandel, the Donald Trump of Nassau Community College, makes an impact on his marketing students by introducing them to important, successful marketing peeps. He makes class lectures personal by using life experiences and has a great sense of humor. Mandel is known for teaching students the ins and outs of marketing by teaching them that being a team player will get you far in any career.

Nancy Mann, Special Ed/Reading, Sachem School District is by far the finest special ed reading teacher on the Island. She’s an out of the box thinker, intellectually sharp, and doesn’t just go with the flow…already over 1,500 students have benefited from her style, and extraordinary teaching abilities.

doctor love should be the winner of this years BEST OF LONG ISLAND !!!!!! THERE SHOULD BE MORE TECHERS LIKE HIM BECAUSE THEN THERE WILL BE MORE GRADUATING STUDENTS IN AMERICA !!
