I have eaten at most of the Chinese restaurants in Flushing, Queens, so I have a pretty good idea what real Chinese food tastes like. I have also eaten at many long Island establishments (I reside in Westbury, where there is no authentic Chinese food available) such as The Orient in Hicksville, which has pretty good dim sum and fairly good regular dishes, and Hunan Dynasty in levittown, which has tasty, if ordinary, American style chinese food (although their habit of re-using their crispy noodles is either a health violation or needs to be). Anyway , the other day I discovered a small take-out place on Old Country Road in Carle Place called Christine’s, which I found out is the same owner as the former Imperial Wok in Hicksville. They also use the same cooks. The dishes at Christine’s are a notch above every chinese take-out place I have tried on Long Island, including Hunan Dynasty. In particluar, they have a spicy dish called Peppercorn Chicken that is tastier than any dish I have tried outside of Flushing. It is unfortuante that they picked a location that doesn’t allow for sit-down eating, aside from three small cramped tables in the store-front, but as a take-out, they are a very welcome addition to the Long Island food scene, and I highly recommend this place for people with an adventurous and keen taste for Chinese food.

I ordered takeout last night and found a roach head in my food (tentacles and all). GROSS and uhh.. No excuse for that. Thought I was going to puke. I am supposed to get credited for the bill, but waiting to see. How horrible. NEVER going back again. Never.
