French Onion Soup and a hot, tasty croissant can make a body feel so good. Factor in some choice wine and a few memories of Paris and you should be pretty much set for at least a little while. Sure, Long Island has a quality French restaurant or two or three out here. Best of L.I. voters chose le mieux (the best).

Chef Guy Reuge’s legendary French American destination loses nothing in its move to this country inn after 25 years in St. James. Local sourcing of ingredients and a quest for perfection make this new version of an old standby a winner.
2nd Place – Bistro Cassis, 55 Wall St., Huntington. 631-421-4122. www.bistrocassis.com
This restaurant has great hamburgers that are made with Kobe beef and includes a salad and fries that are perfectly done. The hot flavored mussels are treat too, which are served in a huge golden pot. Don’t forget their daily specials from Monday through Sunday.
3rd Place – Sage Bistro, 2620 Merrick Rd., Bellmore. 516-679-8928. www.bistrosage.com
Sage Bistro can be described as authentic French cuisine complemented with an excellent variety of dailyspecials that continue to dazzle the palate. The Sole entree doesn’t blast the fillet with an overpowering glaze of sauce, yet it is quite flavorful and always cooked to perfection. The Mussels Provençale, Escargot and their steak entrees always provide noteworthy meals.
