These casual spots may look like yogurt stores, but fans who have dropped their burger habit love the many varieties of soups, salads, sandwiches and pasta, along with all the frozen treats, all made with fresh, healthful ingredients. And not to add our two cents or anything, but this place has the best Caesar salad you’ll ever encounter.

2nd Place – Tiger Lily Café, 156 E. Main St., Port Jefferson. 631-476-7080. www.tigerlilycafe.com

This may be the funkiest alternative vegetarian eatery to be found! If your passion includes food, art and music, you’ve found your place. They specialize in bringing vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine to another level. They are known for their wraps and salads, and compliment their food with a full Juice Bar which includes nutritious choices of soy smoothies, protein shakes, fresh juices, and wheatgrass shots to name a few.

3rd Place - Tula Kitchen, 41 E. Main St., Bay Shore. 631-539-7183. www.tulakitchen.com

Their extensive menu items are healthy and pretty much guilt-free. There’s a variety of different assortments from chicken, to salmon, to veggie items like the delectable lentil burger.  All bases are covered here.  They also have a creative cocktail menu.  With a friendly staff and good food, this place is the best.

I’m looking over the menu of “The Healthy Eatery” and what about them is *healthy*?
There’s the occasional choice that isn’t so bad, but mostly lots of bacon, loads of cheese… Not the least healthy menu I’ve seen, but not PARTICULARLY healthy.
