Dr. Walter Priestley of Farmingdale Won Best Chiropractor on Long Island!

Dr. Walter Priestley's office in Farmingdale

Dr. Walter Priestley
81 Conklin St.

“Sit up straight!” The phrase has been uttered, with varying degrees of harshness, by parents, teachers, musicians and many well-meaning others. And hearing those three words is music to Walter Priestley’s ears. The two-time Best of L.I. winner has been diagnosing, fixing and rehabilitating spines since his base of operations in Farmingdale opened in 1988. Twenty-two years later, he’s sitting—up straight, of course—at the top of the pack.

2nd Place – Dr. Tara O’Brien, Kaizen Centre for Health and Wellness, 2710 Grand Ave., Bellmore. 516-781-9555.

Dr. O’Brien is anything but under qualified. Boasting a chiropractic degree, a Masters in Science Education and certification in Yoga and the Healing Arts, she works as yoga director, chiropractor and natural child birth coach for her practice. In addition, she has been clinically trained in Mind/Body medicine from Harvard Medical School. If you are in search of a highly educated and qualified professional, Dr. O’Brien is a clear choice.

3rd Place - Dr. Janine D. Kelly, 2470 N. Jerusalem Ave., North Bellmore. 516-409-0044.

Dr. Kelly has been serving her East Meadow community since 1998. She helps everyone from people with sciatic conditions to pregnant women and children. She also offers ear candles, trigger point, massage, BioFreeze, Cryoderm spray and supplements. She is currently forming REIKI and meditation workshops, and is always looking to offer the best options to her patients.

Instead of cracking, healing energy is the key with Network Spinal Analysis. I swear by Dr. Renee Sacharny of Live Well Chiropractic of Massapequa at 4211 Merrick Road (516) 765-3990.

I started going to a new chiropractor in hicksville, his name is DR. Sean Pastuch. He is new to the profession but has done amazing things for my back! The most impressive thing to me what that when he didn’t think he could fix me by himself, he referrred me to a podiatrist for orthodics instead of making his own and charging me through the nose!

Luann March 10, 2010 at 2:00 am

You should try Dr. Steve Macagnone (516-4334242). I was fitted for orthodics right in his office. He also has the equipment to take his own xrays and he provides his patients with the tools to be painfree AND to achieve wellness and stay that way! He is in Jericho on Broadway right off the NS exit. I can’t believe he wasn’t the “best” this year!

Congratulations to Preistley Chiropractic of Farmingdale! I recently had a severe shoulder pain, which made it actually difficult to work. After suffering for weeks, I turned once again to our familiar Farmingdale Chiropractor; Dr Walter Priestley at Priestley Chiropractic… (Walter Priestley had helped my wife and I many times in the past). After several office visits for adjustments and consultation, Walter help reduced the pain significantly. And now, a few months later, it feels better than ever and the pain is gone! I would give Walter and Priestley Chiropractic my full recommendation for anyone suffering from any type of back pain (or shoulder, arm pain). And of course they are also very involved in Farmingdale Community efforts. Thanks for a great job Walter!

My whole family uses Dr. Priestley. He is gentle, effective and caring. My mom says she always feels better when she leaves. Voted Long Island’s Best Chiropractor!

All my life I heard horror stories that chiropractors do more harm than good. Needless to say I was leery about them. Well I can attest to its validity if you are seeing one who doesn’t know what they are doing! I was seeing a chiropractor for a very brief time who, with only one neck adjustment, caused me to have migraine headaches so awful that the light would hurt my eyes, I couldn’t pick my head up off my pillow and I was vomiting and bedridden for three days. This is when a friend of mine recommended Dr. Steve from Center Island Chiropractic. Mary, just like me , does not like doctors (who really does?). But she spoke very passionately about Dr Steve and so I decided to give him a try and made my first appointment. I almost cancelled it because I had such pain in my head and I really didn’t want to get out of bed. Well I am glad I went that day. When I told him how I was feeling, he knew immediately where he needed to work on me to relieve the pain and he did! I was actually able to drive home in minimal pain and by the next morning the migraine was completely gone! I was sold on him that very first day. I now see Dr. Steve for issues that most people would think do not require chiropractic care. It has been just a few months and I can truly say he is a blessing!

People do not need to have back pain to see a chiropractor. If the alignment of your spine is off then you cause irritation to the nervous system and probably constrict the blood flow to your vital organs. This can cause problems with any part of your body. I personally have been battling Crohn’s disease for many years. After conventional medicine failed me, I joined several medical “studies” and I was considered a failure with each of them. I went through several surgeries and the past 3 years I was lucky if I could keep my weight up to 100 lbs. Now with Dr. Steve properly aligning my spine, my whole body (and mind) feel better! My pain has subsided and I am starting to gain weight again.
In the few months that I have been one of his patients, I have recommended Dr. Steve to friends and family and ALL of them have been helped with varying problems. Issues with stress, painful bulging discs, teary eyes, arthritis, joint problems, sciatica, vertigo, allergies, carpal tunnel and the list goes on.

Take a peek at his website at When the homepage loads look on the bottom right titled “3D Spine Simulator” and click on the launch button. Once launched you can click on the different bones of the spine (in the center of the screen) and then look to the left and right to see the “organs” and “nerves” that will be affected when a particular vertebrae is out of alignment. I can tell you firsthand what you are seeing is true! Or better yet, just give Dr. Steve a call to set up a consultation (516-433-4242). He has been in practice over 20 years, is very knowledgeable and he will be very honest with you.

Dr. Steve has a wonderful contagious uplifting attitude. And most importantly he not only listens to your words but he hears your concerns and will address them! His office staff is also a reflection of his caring way. Dr Steve is not just a health care provider but a wellness provider. He will give you whole healthcare and not just treat you for your pain but more importantly he will find (and address) the source of the pain to prevent it from reoccurring.

This recommendation is spoken by someone who has cheated death twice already. I truly believe without your health, you have nothing! Give him a call and judge for yourself. And once you meet him, he will make a believer out of you too. If you need more detailed information from one of his many very satisfied patients, then during your consultation just ask him for Luann’s phone number. I would be more than happy to speak with you!

I nominate Dr. Allen Sherr of Northport Wellness Group in Northport, NY. He’s the most proficient chiropractor, wholeness, homeopathic chiropractor we have today. He’s active with autism and various childhood disorders. He combines his expertise with expert body manipulation which serves the patient needs, and can couple that with nutrition and wellness information to keep the patient in optimum health. His bedside manner is kind, considerate, listening, and caring. And if you need him in an emergency, he will meet you on any day at his office to help you. He’s the most educated doctor and the most loved because he cares for his patients and will always go nine yards to achieve the health results that benefits patients. I would never go to any other chiropractor. He’s made me straight and made me walk when I thought I couldn’t take another step. He’s the best chiropractor on the Island and he needs to be number one.

I nominate Dr. JoAnna Fasulo of Fasulo chiropractic. I’ve been her patient for about 10yrs, and truly love being her patient! I first found her when i injured my lower back and neck in a very
bad car accident. I wasn’t able to move or do the things that i could normally do. She has really helped me get my life back on track again. She has also helped me with another health issue that i was having at the time, and i am forever greatful for that. I have mentioned to her that i was having trouble sleeping and the relaxation techniques that she showed me have made such
a big difference. I am now sleeping through the night again and feeling well rested. She has added Applied kinesiology, NRT testing and Cranial sacral therapy to her practice, I go for
regular cranial sessions with her that are wonderful, it has really made a difference with my tmj pain, and headaches. JoAnna is the kind of person who will go out of way to help her patients.
I never met a more caring person, JoAnna and her staff really make you feel like part of the family. I don’t make any health related descions without her. I am soo glad that i found her! :)

I nominate Dr. Davin L. Halpern. I neglected the fact that my back had bothered me for quite some time. I started seeing Dr. Halpern about a year ago and since have had no problems. He assessed the problem that I had, and then after a number of visits ran tests and showed me how my back has progressed. He’s also very friendly and has a great counter staff.

David Moran October 11, 2010 at 12:20 pm

I nominate Dr, Davin Halpern D.C. I have been a patient of Dr. Halpern’s for over ten years. He has treated my neck and back after surgeries, and has been able to let me lead as close to a normal life as possible. He is very compassionate and makes sure the patient comes first, not the insurance companies or the lawyers, but the patient. He is a great chiropractor and a good guy!

Melissa Conti October 14, 2010 at 9:20 am

Dr. Walter Priestly is an outstanding practioner. I have recommended several friends and co-employees to Dr. Priestly and all were exceptionally satisfied.

The Long Island Press was correct in naming him Chiropractor of the year.

Dr. Jennifer LaMonica, of Mineola, is by far miles ahead of any Chiropractor on Long Island and probably all of New York. People fly in to see her and so would you if you knew her. She is a gift to the community……………
