There’s nothing like a Sunday on the golf course on Long Island. So what are you waiting for? Pack up your clubs.

Long Island Voted Bethpage State Park the Best Public Golf Course on Long Island!

Bethpage State Park,
99 Quaker Meeting House Rd.
Farmingdale
516-249-0700
www.nysparks.com/parks/108/details.aspx

Bethpage State Park is home to not one, not two, but five public golf courses, an excellent pro shop and a driving range that would make others blush. And then there’s that little thing known as the Black Course, home to two U.S. Opens and ranked by Golf Digest as the fifth best public course in America. But the true crowning jewel in Bethpage State Park’s crown is this, its third consecutive Best of win in the Public Golf Course category.

2nd Place - Eisenhower Park, Eisenhower Memorial Park, East Meadow. 516-572-0327.

Eisenhower Park has three beautiful golf courses resting on its land. The first is the red course, which hosted PGA tours as early as the 1920’s. The other two courses at Eisenhower, the White and The Blue, are both 18-hole courses and can be used for champion type games as well.  Eisenhower also has a driving range which has late night hours. Number two on the list this year, this champion golf course is a favorite to Nassau residents.

3rd Place - Montauk Downs, 50 S. Fairview Ave., Montauk. 631-668-1234. www.montaukdowns.org

Montauk Downs was built in 1928, and is now home to four golf courses.  After their expansion in 2003 they now also have a pool, a tennis court and a restaurant. They also have a driving range.  They offer junior and regular leagues and lessons for everyone ages 5 and up.  Their newest and most innovative program is “Golf Fitness with Kate Tempesta.” This program teaches you how to get fit while playing golf and also helps if you have any physical health problems that would normally prohibit your game. This year The Downs are number 3 on the list and a fabulous place to spend a warm summer day.
